I have a Galaxy SII Android cellphone. For anonymous web surfing and to access restricted websites i always prefer “Hotspot Shield” VPN. I’m really happy with it’s services and moreover it save my phone bill because it supports bandwidth compression. I have a great solution to access the web as an anonymous user. Do you? Check it here – http://www.hotspotshield.com/en
Yes, Hotspot shield is great. I have even used it. I was just giving tips, for people who wants to configure vpn themselves. Thanks for the comment Satinder.
The builtin VPN connection provided by Google stops the email from working because the email uses the default gateway of the VPN connection instead of your router. When you disconnect from the VPN the internet goes back to using the router’s default gateway but the email doesn’t. It continues to try and use the VPN’s default gateway. Because that gateway no longer exists the email won’t download and you get a connection error when you try to download email. This is a major oversight by Google. There should either be an option to use the routers default gateway instead of the VPN connection’s one OR make the email change its gateway back to the router when the VPN has disconnected.
Android version is 4.0.4. An update is needed to fix this Google. I’m surprised that no one else has noticed this hiccup.
